After a hectic times in Bali, I finally get my hair on the city called Yogyakarta in February 2015. Along with my best friend/colleague/karaoke crusher/soeketi/mother/nurse/sister, we decided to open our house for a lost traveler just so we can get a noise out of the house. Our house is so quiet, and I mean it. The neighbours are always in their shell, never comes out, not even say hi. I noticed only two houses that very welcomed to us since the first day we moved into the area.

Antonia came to us with her cheerful attitude. German born with Iranian blood, she came to Indonesia to interview selected few of doctors with a research that she has been working on. Her two days stay at our place was nothing but nice. She has been to Indonesia before, and she told me many things that she encountered during her journey.
“I got called, Mister, Mister, mau kemana?” and when I told them that it’s suppose to be Miss, they nod, but ten seconds later they called me again, “Mister, naik becak saja! Becak!” she said with gusto. We laughed every time she mimicked the way people asked her questions on the street.
For her last night in our house before she moved to Surabaya, we decided to play “Pretty” Uno. It’s not actually pretty, It was quite messy. Whoever lose gets a drawing on their face with a lipstick. And yup, from the picture it seems like everyone was losing, big time.
Please ignore our happy face
I took Antonia to a nearby train station early in the morning as she continued her journey to Surabaya. We promised not to lose any communication between us, and wished each other good luck. I was sad to see her go, but she will be my earliest memory in Yogyakarta.
